Gary Marks

For over five decades, American singer-songwriter Gary Marks has written about political freedom, protecting the environment, and social consciousness.

At this crossroads in history, Lantern Heights Records is proud to present an album of Marks's most musically masterful, lyrically powerful works.

Each side of the album progresses chronologically from the 1970s to the present. Included are a number of rare tracks never before heard by the general public.

Crossroads is a tribute to a songwriter whose timeless work reflects many of the challenges we face today.

Marks's lyrics explore not only politics and the fragile path of freedom, but the personal choices that shape our lives and affect our future.

REVIEWS:

”Gary Marks... might be one of the best singer/songwriters you’ve never heard of.” — Reliving My Youth podcast — Noel Fogelman May, 2026”

I feel like this album is a perfect sampler of what Gary Marks has been all about from the beginning.
— Jon Lamoreaux, The Hustle, Episode 570, April, 2026
Gary Marks was, and still is, a truly unique voice in rock — and therefore was ignored by the industry power brokers who, to this day, only think in dollar bills, not artistry.
— Dusty Groove Inc.
Marks shows a knack for combining a catchy and memorable song with mature and often brilliant lyrics about love, relationships, and finding a place in the world. . .always a rare thing in the world of commercial music.
— Larry Kelp, Oakland Tribune
Marks is a meticulous craftsman, injecting his modern rock sound with interesting harmonic subtleties and powerful lyrics.
— San Francisco Bay Guardian, 18th annual "Best of San Francisco” edition

In a June 2026 feature article, Noise11’s Paul Cashmere described Crossroads as both a re-introduction and a retrospective, connecting the Crossroads album to Marks’s larger archive of recordings from the 1970s through the 2020s.
